Some collections begin with a color palette. Others begin with a trend.
The Still Waters by Linen Tales collection began with a place.
Nestled on the shores of Lake Galvė in Trakai, Still Waters by Linen Tales was imagined as more than a guesthouse. It was created as a sanctuary for slow mornings, meaningful rituals and quiet moments surrounded by nature. Before the first guest arrived, the team behind Linen Tales knew every detail - from the architecture to the textiles - needed to contribute to the same feeling: calm.
It was from that vision that the Still Waters by Linen Tales collection was born.
The Still Waters collection by Linen Tales brings together European linen bedding, linen bathrobes and decorative cushions, each inspired by the landscapes of Trakai and the cultural heritage of the Karaim community. Rather than simply decorating a space, these pieces were designed to shape the atmosphere itself.
To discover how history became pattern and how a destination became a linen collection, we spoke with the designer behind the collection, Morta Griškevičiūtė.
Designing the Still Waters Collection Around a Feeling
When Morta first heard about the project, she wasn't thinking about textiles.
She was imagining an experience.
"I envisioned a place where guests would experience something more than just a retreat," she says. "A space to recharge, find inspiration and focus."
The name itself offered its own creative direction.
"Still Waters immediately evoked calm water, deep reflection and everything that water symbolizes. I hoped the visual design choices would become more than aesthetic elements - they needed to become part of the experience."
That philosophy shaped every decision behind the Still Waters by Linen Tales collection. Instead of designing standalone home textiles, Morta approached every piece as part of a larger story. The softness of European linen, the restrained palette and the quiet rhythm of the patterns all contribute to the same atmosphere guests experience at the Still Waters guesthouse on the shores of Lake Galvė.

Finding Inspiration in Trakai and Karaim Heritage
One of the defining characteristics of the Still Waters by Linen Tales collection is its connection to place.
Rather than looking inward for inspiration, Griškevičiūtė immersed herself in the history of Trakai and its Karaim community. She spent months reading historical texts, visiting museums and walking through the streets where generations of Karaites have lived.
"I probably read much more than I actually used," she says.
That restraint became central to the collection.
Instead of reproducing traditional ornaments or decorative motifs, she focused on understanding the spirit behind them.
"I didn't want to directly adopt specific motifs or patterns," she explains. "It wasn't always clear which elements were originally Karaim and which had been adopted through centuries of cultural exchange. Respecting heritage meant understanding it rather than copying it."
Instead, one visual language continued to appear throughout her research: stripes.
The rhythm of traditional Karaim textiles, and their distinctive colour palettes, became the foundation of the Still Waters by Linen Tales collection, interpreted through contemporary European linen and timeless design.

Respecting Tradition Through Contemporary Design
Designing a collection inspired by cultural heritage requires balance.
For Griškevičiūtė, that balance begins with curiosity.
"Respecting tradition doesn't mean simply repeating it," she says. "It begins with taking the time to understand it and allowing it to inspire new stories rather than reproducing old forms."
That perspective is evident throughout the Still Waters by Linen Tales collection.
The stripes feel modern without losing their historical references. The colors echo the surrounding landscape of Trakai rather than imitating it literally. Every piece feels equally at home inside a contemporary apartment or the quiet rooms of the Still Waters guesthouse.
It reflects the philosophy behind Linen Tales itself: creating European linen pieces that become lasting companions to everyday life instead of passing trends.

Creating Linen Bedding for Slow Living
Luxury isn't always defined by abundance.
Sometimes it's found in the rituals we repeat every day.
Making the bed in the morning. Reading before sleep. Wrapping yourself in a linen robe while the coffee brews. Watching sunlight move across the room.
The Still Waters by Linen Tales collection was designed for those moments.
"I hope the first impression is one of tranquility and naturalness," Morta says.
She also hopes people discover something deeper over time.
"I'd like the subtle references to Karaim culture and the context of Trakai to be discovered gradually - as a quiet connection to the place."
Just like the guesthouse itself, the collection doesn't reveal everything at once. It invites people to slow down, look closer and allow meaning to unfold naturally.

Bringing the Still Waters Collection Home
The Still Waters by Linen Tales collection allows people to bring that same atmosphere of tranquility and calmness, into their own homes through European linen bedding, linen robes and decorative cushions inspired by the landscapes and heritage of Trakai.
Every stripe carries a story.
Every color reflects a landscape.
Every piece invites the same quiet question that inspired the collection from the very beginning:
What if home could feel just a little slower?
The Still Waters by Linen Tales collection isn't simply a new linen collection from Linen Tales.
It's an invitation to live more intentionally - to embrace slower mornings, thoughtful design and the quiet beauty of everyday rituals.
