Thirteen years ago, the very first Linen Tales shop opened... in our living room.
Our apartment in Vilnius Old Town had a separate entrance from the street, and one summer I convinced my wife to give up our living room to see if this little idea of selling linen could become something more.
Even before we officially opened, while we were still unpacking boxes and arranging shelves, curious passers-by started peeking through the open windows asking if they could come in and buy something. That was probably the first moment we thought, maybe this could actually work.
In those early days, I spent most of my time behind the cash register - always slightly nervous that I'd press the wrong button. But what I remember most are the conversations. Visitors from all over the world would tell me why they chose a particular tablecloth, napkin or towel. Sometimes it was a wedding gift, sometimes a souvenir from Vilnius, sometimes simply something beautiful for their own home.
Life looks very different today than it did thirteen years ago, but every now and then I still take a shift - helping customers or making coffee at our Shop & Café. It always feels a bit like coming home.
Looking back, I'm not most grateful for the years we've been in business. I'm grateful for the community that has grown around Linen Tales and for everyone who has welcomed a small piece of our work into their home.
Thirteen years later, we still believe that the most meaningful things are often the ones connected to memories - a tablecloth used for family dinners, a towel brought home from a special trip, or a linen piece that quietly becomes part of everyday life.
Every piece of linen carries a little story, and over the years, thousands of those stories have become part of ours.
Thank you for being part of this journey, for supporting our work, and for allowing Linen Tales to become a small part of your homes and your everyday moments.
Warmly,
Boris
Founder of Linen Tales
