A good dinner rarely ends with clean table linen - usually, we end up dealing with at least a few different kinds of stains. Our coffee in bed sometimes literally becomes a coffee in bed with sheets soaking in a hot dark brew. And when the kids eat strawberries, we know we might face a few red spots here and there.
Although food, beverage, and grease stains are quite common in our daily life, they all require different treatments. What works for one, doesn’t always work for another so we understand that sometimes you may find yourself on a brink of giving up and throwing the stained thing away. After years of working with linen, we gathered useful stain cleaning techniques that do work. So feel free to save a link to this blog article to have these tips at hand.
One important thing before we start: any stain gets more and more difficult to clean with time. So to reach the best result, make sure you clean the stains as soon, as they appear.
Soak the linen in cold water for 10 - 15 minutes. Then, simply wash according to the instructions, at 40°C temperature.
Dab the stain with a paper towel to get out any excess wine. Generously sprinkle the stain with salt so that it completely covers the stained area. Leave it overnight, as the salt should dry out. Then, once the salt is completely dry, shake off any remains of it and wash linen according to washing instructions.
You will need to act quickly with these. Pour boiling water on the stain as soon, as you can. It should be enough for the stain to vanish momentarily. If any remains are still visible, try pouring some more boiling water over the stain and then washing the linen in a washing machine according to the instructions.
First, dab the stain with a clean dry cloth or paper towel to get out any excess coffee. In a bowl mix two tablespoons of each: dishwashing soap, white vinegar, and water. Using a clean cloth, rub the mixture onto the stain to clean it. Do not let this mixture dry out on the fabric. Once you feel the most of the stain is gone, wash linen according to the instructions.
As soon as possible, pour some dishwashing soap on the stain and rub it gently. The soup should dissolve the grease and remove the bigger part of the stain. Then, simply wash the linen by following the washing instructions.
