Have you ever thought about the fact that we spend approximately one third of our lives sleeping? To be more exact, that is 2,372.5 hours per year. However, once we get into the hamster-wheel of life, we may find ourselves cutting back on sleep in order to spend a few extra minutes completing the leftover tasks of the work day, surfing the web for no reason or reading that interesting novel you just cannot put down. Unfortunately, those minutes too often turn into hours.
It is obvious that the quality of our lives, health, working abilities, emotional balance and other indicators of well-being are closely related to the quality of our rest. Nothing refreshes the body and mind like good night sleep. So, we would like to share the following tips to ensure that your night goes by smoothly.
Adults need from seven to nine hours of sleep per night, whereas children and teenagers should sleep even longer. Going to bed and getting up at the same hour every day, even on weekends and holidays, will significantly improve your sleep quality.
Regular physical activity is one of the key factors to a good night’s sleep. However, we suggest you avoid exercising late in the evening as it might make you feel too energetic to fall asleep.
In order to get a good night sleep, make sure there are plenty of fruits and vegetables in your diet as well as food from other nutritional groups. Don't forget to have your last meal at least 3 hours before going to bed, and also, avoid caffeine too late in the evening.
A comfortable mattress is very important, but it may take a while to choose the best one as they come in so many different types. However, with a little research, you shouldn’t have any trouble finding the most comfortable mattress for yourself and your budget. Keep in mind that if your mattress is more than 7 years old, it may be a good time to think about getting a new one.
According to scientists, linen bedding has various benefits. To begin with, linen is a highly breathable and temperature regulating fabric, so it will keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Furthermore, people who sleep on linen bedding are able to fall asleep much faster, sleep deeper and wake up in a better mood, so the linen bedding is indispensable for truly good rest.
