Have you ever thought about the fact that we spend approximately one third of our lives sleeping? To be more exact, that is 2,372.5 hours per year. However, once we get into the hamster-wheel of life we may find ourselves cutting back on sleep in order to spend extra minutes completing the leftover tasks of the workday, surfing the internet for no reason or reading that interesting novel. Unfortunately, those minutes too often turn into hours.
It is obvious that the quality of our lives, health, work performance, emotional balance and other indicators of well-being are closely related to the quality of our rest. Nothing refreshes the body and mind like a good night sleep. So, we would like to share the following tips to ensuring a good rest.
Stick to a sleep schedule
Adults need from seven to nine hours of sleep per night, whereas children and teenagers should sleep even longer. Going to bed and getting up at the same hour every day, even on weekends or holidays will significantly improve the quality of your sleep.
Exercise and be physically active during the day
Regular physical activity is one of the key factors to a good night’s sleep. However, we suggest you avoid exercising late in the evening as it might make you feel too energetic to rest.
Keep a balanced diet
In order to get a good night’s sleep make sure there are plenty of fruits and vegetables in your diet as well as food from other nutritional groups. Make sure you have your last meal at least 3 hours before going to bed and also avoid caffeine too late in the evening.
Mind comfort and look for what suits you better
A comfortable mattress is very important, but it may take a while to choose the best one as they come in so many different types. However, with a little research, you shouldn't have any trouble finding the most comfortable mattress for yourself and your budget. Keep in mind that if your mattress is more than 7 years old it may be a good time to think about getting a new one.
Choose linen bedding
According to scientists, linen bedding has various benefits. To start with, linen is a highly breathable and temperature regulating fabric, so it will keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Furthermore, in our experience people who sleep on linen bedding have a better quality of sleep, hence wake up in a better mood. Linen bedding is indispensable for a truly good night sleep.
